SMEs don’t want to instruct law firms. They perceive formal legal advice as “expensive, serious and last resort”. Law firms need to engage with SMEs in a way that reflects this reality.
The publication by the Legal Services Board of its framework for assessing the legal needs of small businesses – demonstrates that it’s not just consumers’ legal needs that are on the radar of legislators and regulators. The framework report draws heavily on the qualitative research carried out for the LSB by AIA, published in a report dated May 2010. It’s worth a read. Read more
